Image result for national diabetes awareness month 2015November is celebrated as National Diabetes Awareness Month. This condition affects more than 29 million Americans. In fact, one in 11 Americans have diabetes and another 86 million are at high risk for developing it. 

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of disability and death in the United States.  It can cause blindness, nerve damage, kidney disease, and other health problems if it is not controlled.

The good news? People can lower their risk by more than half if they make healthy changes.  These changes include: eating healthy, increasing physical activity, and losing weight.

In November, we encourage everyone to make the commitment to get involved to learn more, spread awareness, and support others with diabetes. Misinformation about diabetes is widespread. To learn the facts, take the diabetes risk test, or find events in our area, visit one of the links below.
